About College

Government Model Degree College Devidhura, located in Devidhura, renowned for Maa Barahi Dham in the Champawat district of Devbhumi Uttarakhand, was founded in 2014. It holds the distinction of being the first model degree college in Uttarakhand. The college serves students from Champawat, Nainital, and Almora districts. Commencing from just two rooms in the Jilapanchayat Bhawan in 2014, this institution has evolved significantly over time.

This model college embarked on its educational journey by admitting 73 students in the Arts faculty in 2014 and currently boasts over 500 students in both the Arts and Science faculties. In 2019, it became a center for Uttarakhand Open University, offering courses in B.A., B.Com, and M.A. subjects.

Furthermore, the college initiated a Herbal Garden project as part of the Chief Minister’s Innovation Scheme. It also provides coaching to female students under the “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” scheme, preparing them for various competitive exams.

Infrastructure

The institute is committed to ensuring that both teaching staff and students have access to excellent facilities that enhance their teaching and learning experiences. As a result, the institute maintains an ample number of fully furnished classrooms with proper ventilation. Personal hygiene is a priority for the institute, and to uphold this, it provides well-equipped, separate washroom facilities for both male and female students and staff.

This institute holds the distinction of being the first Modern Degree College in Uttarakhand. It occupies a 2.2-hectare area, featuring seven well-furnished classrooms, three laboratories, a herbal garden laboratory, a seminar/conference hall with excellent amenities, including a projector, and an IQAC (Internal Quality Assurance Cell) room. The college ensures internet connectivity for all stakeholders through broadband and Wi-Fi connections.

Funding from various sources, including Rashtriya Uchchtar Siksha Abhiyan (RUSA), is allocated periodically to enhance and maintain the infrastructure and teaching-learning programs. The institute is equipped with an inverter connection, computer systems, photocopiers, and more. To ensure the safety of staff and students, CCTV cameras are installed in all classrooms and around the institute. Additionally, the college provides hostel facilities for students.

Furthermore, the college encourages and supports co-curricular activities such as NSS (National Service Scheme), Rover/Rangers, and cultural activities. It offers sports facilities, including a dedicated room for sports equipment, and provides sports kits for participation in various events, including inter-collegiate and inter-university competitions. Sports participants also receive travel allowances and refreshments for their involvement in tournaments and sporting events.

Students are also encouraged to engage in cultural activities such as dance and acting, and the college provides musical instruments and costumes as needed for different occasions.
