RUSA
S.N.S.C. Government Model Degree College was established in the year 2014. It was started in the two rooms of Jilapanchayat Bhawan. It was devoid of basic facilities. It got sufficient furniture and infrastructure funded by RUSA in the first phase, which resulted in controlling migration from rural and hilly areas by constructing an academic block, administrative block, science lab, library, reading room, computer lab, lavatory, and hostel. The students from different districts, like Nainital and Almora, also benefited from the construction of it. It also resulted in an increasing ratio of female students, and it is regularly progressing in this domain of higher education. Under the CM Innovation Scheme, the Herbal Garden Project training is provided to the youth of this area to promote self-employment. It was established as the first Model Degree College in Uttarakhand. At present, the classes are running in the college in the Humanities department in six subjects (Hindi, Sanskrit, English, Political Science, Economics, and Sociology) and in the Science stream (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, and Zoology). After the announcement made by the honorable chief minister, some subjects will be introduced at post -graduate level (all the subjects of Humanities at present) and undergraduate levels like History, Geography, and Education.
